Symptom: Transmission is Slipping


Automatic: The engine revs up during shifts as the throttle is depressed, however the car does not accelerate. The furhter you press on the gas pedal, the more noticeable the problem is.

 

Manual: As you step on the clutch, the engine revs, but the car does not accelerate. The clutch feels like it is slipping. This malfunction gets worse with time and should be corrected immediately to avaoid additional damage to the clutch system.

 

 

Possible Cause:


Automatic: Slipping is a problem that will become worse. If it is not fixed soon it will create excessive friction and heat production, therefore leading to major damage. Call our service manager (408) 492-8980.

  • Fluid level is low or incorrect type of fluid
  • Hard part problem in the transmission
  • Electrical controls are failing
  • clogged transmission filter

 

Manual: Clutch slippage will cause clutch surface damage. If not fixed, slipping will result in major repairs. Call our service manager (408) 492-8980.
